HOW TO USE (ANIMATION)




INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Use Soviflex retractor for 1st and 2nd degree vaginal tears in healthy BMI range patients. For 3rd and 4th degree tears, first repair the rectal mucosal defect and anal sphincter, then insert Soviflex retractor to complete remaining perineal repair.

ORIENT THE DEVICE

Hold the Soviflex device with the cylindrical ridge side in your hand.

FOLD THE DEVICE

Fold the Soviflex retractor so the textured surface will face the vaginal wall.

INSERT RETRACTOR

Hold folded device by cylindrical ridge edge and insert the Soviflex retractor into vagina with ridge of device positioned about 1cm inside vaginal opening. Orient device for best visualization.

Note: The Soviflex retractor can also be positioned to visualize sulcus tears.

REMOVE RETRACTOR AND DISPOSE

ADDITIONAL NOTE

Be aware that if a patient “vasalvas,” coughs or moves a lot, the retractor may shift in position. The retractor may also be more likely to move when oriented to visualize sulcus tears. If the retractor moves during the procedure, simply reposition the device and continue the suturing procedure.
